What does Lutron lighting control do?
It lets you set lighting scenes for different times of day or activities, dim lights from a phone or wall pad, and adjust shades on a schedule. You can automate your whole home or just one room—it works with most bulbs and fixtures.
Can we add Lutron to an existing home?
Yes, but the wiring and installation scope depend on your home's age and layout. New construction is simpler because we plan the circuits and wiring during design. A retrofit costs more because we need to run new wiring or use wireless controls where hard-wiring is not practical.
Which Lutron system fits a new build?
HomeWorks is the wired, whole-estate platform we specify on new construction and full renovations; RadioRA 3 covers most homes and every retrofit. We choose from the lighting plan and the number of zones, and we put the system, the keypad schedule and the shade list in writing before any wire is pulled.
What's involved in a home theater installation?
We design the room's electrical layout, run wiring for video and audio gear, set up the equipment, calibrate speakers, and test everything before you use it. The scope depends on your space and what you want to watch or listen to.
Can we add whole-home audio?
Yes. We plan wiring and speaker placement during design, then install and connect the gear so you can play music in different zones from one source. Wireless options are available for retrofits where running wire is difficult.
What should we know before we start?
Tell us what gear you want to use or if you're open to options—that shapes the wiring plan. For new construction, we coordinate with your architect early so nothing blocks placement. We give you a written plan and cost before work begins.
How does a standby generator work?
It sits outside and monitors power. When the grid goes out, it starts automatically and powers your home until electricity returns. It runs on natural gas or propane and needs no manual switch or refueling.
What size generator do we need?
Size depends on which systems you want to power during an outage—whole house, heating and cooling, water heater, kitchen, or critical circuits only. We load-test your home and recommend a size in writing before purchase.
What does installation include?
We position and anchor the unit, run gas and electrical lines, connect the automatic transfer switch, and test the entire system so you know it works before the next outage. We also explain maintenance and manual functions if needed.
When do we need a service upgrade?
Your home needs an upgrade if you're adding a major load like an EV charger, heat pump, or backup generator and your current panel lacks capacity. Older homes with 100A or 150A service often need more capacity for new construction or renovation.
What's the difference between a panel upgrade and a subpanel?
An upgrade replaces your main panel to increase total capacity. A subpanel adds circuits in a distant area—like an addition or garage—without replacing the main panel. We recommend which makes sense based on your layout and what you're adding.
What does the work involve?
We schedule with the utility, disconnect your home safely, remove and replace the panel, connect all circuits, test for proper load balance and grounding, and have the utility inspect before power is restored. Timing depends on utility scheduling, not our crew.
What's the difference between Level 2 and Level 1 charging?
Level 1 uses a standard 120V outlet and charges very slowly. Level 2 uses 240V and charges in a few hours. We install Level 2 chargers because they're practical for daily use. Tesla Wall Connector is a Level 2 option optimized for Tesla vehicles.
How much electrical work is involved?
We run a dedicated 240V circuit from your panel to where the charger will sit, mount the unit, and test it. The circuit size and wire run length depend on your garage or parking location and your home's panel capacity.
Can we install a charger in an existing home?
Yes. If you have spare capacity in your panel and a good location near the car, installation is straightforward. If your panel is full, a service upgrade may be needed. We inspect the site and panel before quoting.
What is structured wiring?
It's a single system of wiring and termination points that carries internet, phone, and camera signals throughout your home from one central panel. You plan it once during new construction, then add or change equipment later without re-wiring.
When should we install it?
During new construction or major renovation, before walls close. Retrofitting is possible but requires running wire through walls and attics where runs are not hidden. We plan the route and termination points in writing so you see what's involved.
How do security cameras connect?
We run camera wiring to your central panel, where it connects to a recorder or cloud service. Wired cameras have no dead batteries and need no WiFi bandwidth. Wireless options are available for areas where running wire is difficult.
What kinds of outdoor lighting do you install?
We handle entry and pathway lighting for safety and aesthetics, accent lighting for landscape features and architecture, deck or patio lighting, and architectural uplighting. We work from your design or help you develop one that fits your home.
How do we coordinate outdoor lighting with architecture?
During new construction, we plan the electrical runs and fixture locations with your architect before concrete is poured. We show you options for LED color and brightness so you see how the home will look lit at night before installation.
What does installation include?
We run wiring from your panel to fixtures, mount the lights, set timers or controls, and test them so you see the final effect. For landscape features, we coordinate timing with landscaping so everything is ready at the same time.
